Program
Description
The Program for
Children, Adolescents and their Families at the Piedmont
Center
for Mental Health Services
focuses on children in need of assessment and/or treatment, for serious
emotional or behavioral disturbance. The
program emphasizes the involvement of the family in all services.
Philosophy
of the Program
The
philosophy of Children, Adolescents and Family Services is to provide
appropriate services to children and adolescents who are experiencing emotional
and/or behavioral problems, and to provide support services to their families.
Special emphasis is given to preserving the family system and maintaining
the child in a stable home and school placement.
C & A clinicians, all of whom have a minimum of a Master’s level
training, place great value on early identification and intervention, and
maintain a pro-active, preventive approach to services.
Integral to the philosophy of CAF services is a holistic, systemic
approach to children, adolescents, and their families.
Only those whose primary disability is related to developmental issues,
or those who do not fall within the age range of three to 17 (21 if still in
school) are excluded from receiving treatment from the CAF program.
