Deaf Services

The South Carolina Department of Mental Health provides comprehensive specialized mental health services to South Carolinians who are deaf and hard of hearing. The Piedmont Center for Mental Health Services supervises the delivery of these services across the state.

Services Available:

 



  • Services to Children, Adolescents and their Families

    Like the Adult Services, the South Carolina Department of Mental Health provides services to deaf and hard of hearing children. We use the same host centers as the adult services in addition to having staff based at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind.

  • Residential Services

    The McKinney House, through a cooperative agreement with the Mental Health Association of Greenville County, offers a residential program alternative for individuals who are deaf and, because of their mental illness, cannot live independently in the community.   • Inpatient Services

    Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital provides inpatient care for adults and adolescents who are deaf and need an inpatient setting for acute care needs. Staffed by hospital staff and members of the deaf Services Team from Piedmont Center for Mental Health Services,
